• Generator Tricks for Systems Programmers 
  This tutorial discusses various techniques for using generator functions and generator expressions in the context of systems programming (in Python). This topic loosely includes files, file systems, text parsing, network programming, and programming with threads.

• The Nickle System 
  Nickle is a programming language based prototyping environment with powerful programming and scripting capabilities. Nickle supports a variety of datatypes, especially arbitrary precision numbers. The programming language vaguely resembles C. Some things in C which do not translate easily are different, some design choices have been made differently, and a very few features are simply missing.
  Nickle provides the functionality of UNIX bc, dc and expr in much-improved form. It is also an ideal environment for prototyping complex algorithms. Nickle's scripting capabilities make it a nice replacement for spreadsheets in some applications, and its numeric features nicely complement the limited numeric functionality of text-oriented languages such as AWK and PERL.

  It gives you the same functionalities of a classic spreadsheet application in a new, different way.
  Matrex is excellent when working with blocks of data coming from databases, feeds, files, external applications, simulations.

• Colt Project 
  Colt provides a set of Open Source Libraries for High Performance Scientific and Technical Computing in Java.
  This distribution provides an infrastructure for scalable scientific and technical computing in Java. It is particularly useful in the domain of High Energy Physics at CERN: It contains, among others, efficient and usable data structures and algorithms for Off-line and On-line Data Analysis, Linear Algebra, Multi-dimensional arrays, Statistics, Histogramming, Monte Carlo Simulation, Parallel & Concurrent Programming. It summons some of the best concepts, designs and implementations thought up over time by the community, ports or improves them and introduces new approaches where need arises. In overlapping areas, it is competitive or superior to toolkits such as STL, Root, HTL, CLHEP, TNT, GSL, C-RAND / WIN-RAND, (all C/C++) as well as IBM Array, JDK 1.2 Collections framework (all Java), in terms of performance (!), functionality and (re)usability.
